Choose Your Grid Cell for 2020!

Highest Priority

Picture
Our objective has not yet been met - help us complete the map! Some cells will appear slightly darker than this which indicates someone has signed up to conduct surveys in 2020. But don't let that stop you - it is just meant to serve as a guide. We need all hands on deck for 2020!

Objective Met!

Picture
Our objective has been met! 2020 surveys are a lower priority. We are still interested in fostering long-term data collection for 2020 and beyond. Especially if you have long-term interest in bumble bee monitoring, feel free to adopt one of these grid cells.
COVID-19 UPDATE: We understand that the current situation with the coronavirus is constantly evolving and differs by community. We fully anticipate that we will be able to have a field season this year, but that situation could change quickly -- and differ by location. The most important consideration during this sensitive time is personal and community health. Please follow all relevant regulations and the advice of health care professionals when developing your survey plans for the Atlas. Don't hesitate to stay closer to home if that is the right thing for you and/or your community; the health of our volunteers is of paramount importance. Thank you!
Before you adopt a grid cell, please make sure that you have registered for the project on Bumble Bee Watch

Step 1: Make Your Choice

The final year of the Atlas is here, help us complete the map! Blank cells were not included in our selection process (we still welcome surveys in those locations, but they will not explicitly help us meet the project objectives). You can scroll in and out as needed. As you zoom in closer, each cell will populate with a grid cell number - the state code followed by a number. Record the grid cell number of the cell you'd like to adopt and enter it in the form below the map (Step 2). You can alter which layers are visible by clicking on the three layer icon in the upper right of the map. You can also change the basemap (to aerial photography, etc.) by clicking on the four square icon in the upper right.
Reminder: Please use adoption status as a guide, not a deterrent. Do not let the fact that someone else has adopted a grid cell prevent you from adding your name. Just because another person has adopted a grid cell does NOT mean that surveys will take place. If you want to conduct surveys, please adopt whatever priority grid cell works for you -- YOUR contributions matter.

Step 2: Adopt your grid cell by filling out the form below.

If you are on a mobile device or otherwise having difficulty, you can find the entire form here.

Step 3: Encourage others to adopt their grid cell today!
